THEY

I am sitting on my couch this morning, sipping my coffee, reading my Bible and listening to my boys be, well boys. Today is one of the best days of the year.

I shared about Momentum last year in a previous post. It’s that big of a deal! Students and youth leaders from all over Illinois and a couple other places will converge in Springfield for an epic time of fun, worship, challenging preaching and teaching and lives will be changed by the power and presence of God!

This being on my mind as I read my devotions made me pause, literally-I stopped in the middle of my reading to write this, when I read Psalm 145:4-7.

4One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

5On the glorious splendor of your majesty,

and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

6They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.

7They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness

and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

Now all the times I have read this I always read it that “they” was the older generation BUT this morning, I read it and automatically placed the pronoun as referring to the the next generation! The shift in the perspective creates a powerful potential and prophetic message over our young people as we, adults and leaders, tell them of our own God-experiences.

THEY will tell of God’s greatness!

THEY will put forth His fame!

THEY will sing of His righteousness!

Grown up people, adults, it is up to us to teach them and give them opportunities to grow so that they can and will tell, sing and make Him famous!

That is what this weekend is about. Momentum is one of the ways we make sure we are telling the next generation of God’s awesomeness and then give them the space to fill with their praises to Him.

I can’t wait to get there in a few hours! Pray for the students who will be there and for travel safety. Pray for the worship team, Social Club Misfits (WHAT?!?!) who will be with us, and our speakers. Pray for the leadership team hosting the event to be refreshed themselves as they provide this amazing opportunity to youth groups.
