Who Is Worthy

Strange question to ask on Christmas Eve, I understand, but I have good reason.

Yesterday I was talking with a friend who was telling me about a song I hadn't heard before. She urged me to look it up and listen to it because it is so powerful. Of course I am going to because it's music, I love music, especially Jesus music! She told me that the song is based on the passage from Revelation 5.

5 Then I saw a scroll[a] in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel, who shouted with a loud voice: “Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it.

4 Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it. 5 But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne,[b] has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:1-5

The idea of the song really intrigued me as she described it as a song that has the congregation (choir) respond.

I listened to the song this morning while I was trying to fix my hair but I couldn't really fix my hair cause I was too busy wiping the tears that wouldn't stop flowing or blowing my nose! Like, this one's a real-big-hit-you-in-the-spirit-or-feels-or-face kind of song!

You may know this song already...I'm definitely a little late to the game on this one. But in case you haven't heard it, can I encourage you to just pause, quiet your heart, ask the Lord to speak to you, thank Him for His awesomeness, goodness, power and for being WORTHY!

Okay. In the words of my dad, "If that doesn't light your fire your wood's wet!"

The line that gets me right in the middle of my heart is, "But do you know that all the dark won't stop the light from getting through? (We do)" Um, I know that this isn't really a Christmas song but I am not sure there is a more appropriate song to sing as Advent is coming to a close. The dark world has longed for a light that would shine and demolish all strongholds and HE IS! Emmanuel is with us! GOD IS WITH US!

I pray today that the Light of the World is your light and if not I pray your eyes open to see Him, the One who IS WORTHY, the One who entered into our mess to make us pure. Let this song be the song of Advent People, those who were once in darkness but have seen a great light!
