No Fear

Courage

Unexpected

These have been the words God has given me the last three years.

Each December I spend some time praying and seeking God for a word that I can cling to in the upcoming year. A word that will remind me that he sees me. A word that will remind me of my purpose. A word that will keep me focused and centered in the hard times of life that will inevitably come or that I can celebrate by shouting when the victory is won.

It is so awesome to see how God uses that word in my life and for my family throughout the year but especially looking back.

So as has become my custom I spent some time over the past few weeks seeking the word for 2019. It’s funny...while the previous words made me anticipate what could lie ahead, this year’s made me pause and ask God if he was sure.

Strength, Lord? Are you sure? Like, am I gonna need strength to make it? Are you reminding me I have strength? Is this a declaration that you are my strength? Is it all of this? I can’t lie and say that the idea of needing strength (I mean we all do but follow me a second...) to get through 2019 is slightly daunting. You know what I’m saying?

ANYWAY...

In an effort to understand I began poring over verses about strength in hopes that maybe one or two would jump from the pages and stick in my heart. And because he is God, he is good and his word is alive, that is exactly what happened.

A friend pointed out to me how much she loved that the image that is with my bio at the bottom of my homepage is a succulent because succulents are enduring plants, thriving in the harshest conditions.

Well, let it be, Lord.
