The Season of Preparation

Back in December I wrote about the season of Advent. Last week marked yet another season of the church calendar, Lent.

I am really excited to begin a sermon series on Sunday that will hopefully guide us through the preparation of Jesus as He approached the culmination of His life on earth.
Not having a liturgical background, I am still learning how these seasons and celebrations fit into my own faith. What I do know is that the season is meant to help us refocus our hearts and our minds on the One who gave it all for us. This is a time to follow the example of Jesus in the wilderness and remove things from our lives that have cluttered and created a wall that has kept us from the fullest relationship with God we can have.

There are so many great devotional plans out there for this season, and I would encourage you that it's not too late! You're just a week in so there is plenty of time to get started. Check out the Bible App for amazing reading plans. If you didn't know about this, you can read on your own or you can invite others to join you and have daily discussions about the readings. The Bible App is one of my most favorite resources for the Bible.
I opted to do the She Reads Truth Lent plan. The book is beautiful and I supplement it with the app which also provides devotions for the daily readings. SRT community is going through Jeremiah. Maybe not where many would expect a Lent study to be but the prophet's message points us straight to Calvary.
Through Lent, we take the time to reflect, repent, rejoice and renew our understanding of the unshakable truth that His love endures.
