The past month of summer has been super busy and I haven't been able to post like I want to but I'd rather post one thing a week that is worth your time than something just for the sake of posting...ya know?

This morning I am typing while sitting at a table in a condo in Orlando, FL. I am here this week for a great gathering of ministers from around the world. This week is the General Council of the Assemblies of God. It's my first time to attend this event and I am very grateful to be here. We gather to be refreshed, resourced and to do a little church business, too. As I was reading through my devotions this morning, the theme that resonated through several of my reading plans is that refreshing part.

For weeks I have had discussions with leaders about the need to not just serve but to be filled up. As I posted on social media already this morning, what good is a faucet if it has no water to flow from it? The same goes for God's people whether serving as pastors or volunteer leaders, worship team members, greeters and ushers, youth/kids helpers or even just being a leader in our own homes. If we are not filled up, there is nothing to pour out. There is nothing effective about that. We cannot give what we do not have. It's like the flight attendant warns in pre-flight information that should an emergency occur, you must put your mask on first before helping even your own child put on theirs. You may love the areas you serve and the people who are a part of it but if you are dry and empty, what are you giving?

God desires to fill you up with His presence and Spirit so that you can be the effective Kingdom Builder you've been created to be. Spend time with Him every day. Read your Bible, worship Him on your own (you know you sing in the shower so make it about Him!), pray.

Let me encourage you this morning with a few scriptures and even a couple songs cause, well I am me :)

May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. Psalm 119:171

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 2 Corinthians 1:5

And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. 1 Thessalonians 3:12

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45

Go deeper today. Let the mercy and grace and hope of Jesus that overflows from His heart cover you and fill you to overflowing so that you can pour it out on those around you.
