No joke

2020 sure has had its moments, am I right? We can certainly find no shortage of things to air in frustration. The term "unprecedented" has probably never been used more! I mean, how many people alive today can not only say that they were alive during the 1918 flu pandemic but that they remember it? Few if any. We truly are navigating through a way of living that I would say the largest majority of the entire world has never experienced before. We're not just talking one community, one region, one continent. We're talking about a global issue.
Now many, as I am sure you do too, have thoughts and opinions that run the spectrum of all of this... where it has come from, the motivations behind the choices being made to impact any corrective changes, and on and on and on. I also imagine that if you are like a lot of us, you're tired. You're tired of it all! And you know what? I don't think that's a bad thing.

At the beginning of all of this I believe God used it as an opportunity to call us back to basics, stripping away what we've deemed important and necessary in many ways. I think we've been shaken by Him to awaken us to our apathetic and misaligned priorities. I believe that for those who will lean into Him we'll find something very beautiful coming out of this.
Listen to me. Working from home, remote learning, "quarantine" and "shelter-in-place" are all no joke. I mean, today I have already said a few times that Tuesday ain't cute. You know why? Cause it as been the Monday-est Tuesday I think I've dealt with in a long time! Nothing major or bad just enough annoying to be really obnoxious...feel me? But in the midst of this day, I finished a sermon that really spoke to my own heart. I wrote a letter for some people sharing with them a summary of the message my friend preached at our church yesterday that was another reminder to keep my eyes focused on what matters. And you know what matters? Jesus. Lost souls. Building the Kingdom. Being impacted by the power and the presence of our amazing and loving and merciful and jealous God.
Friends, if you're feeling the weight of it today, it's okay to pause for a moment, close your eyes, breath in deep and and let it go. It's okay, important even, to take a minute to talk with God and if you can, pray in your prayer language! Take some time today to remember God.
