Feet.

Ew.

Except baby feet. I LOVE baby feet! They're soft, fresh, sweet, innocent, full of potential, unscathed by the pressures of this world and all the steps they have yet to take. And they smell good.

I don't really like feet but I do think we can tell a lot about a person from their feet.

Are they clean? Well manicured? Are they dirty or gnarly?

I think feet can tell us if someone is detailed, sick, put-together, a dancer, a runner, or athletic in general, or if they are a hot mess.

But you know what I do love about feet?

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!
Isaiah 52:7

I wish that I had pictures of feet of people who are serving around the world, messengers home and abroad, to share here!

I am reading through a new devotional called 100 Days To Brave by Annie F. Downs. Today's reading was about feet and it made really pause and think. I won't go into it all because I think everyone should get the book and do this. I'd even be ok if you stopped reading for a minute, clicked the link and ordered/downloaded the book right now...I'll wait.

GREAT!

She wrote about how our feet are supposed to be following in the footsteps of Jesus, becoming more and more like Him as we step right where he steps, going where He leads us and doing what He does.

"One of the truest ways

to glorify God with your feet

is to lead."

We have been made, You and I have been made, to walk like Jesus. Annie writes, "In the long run, you need to remember one thing: whether you're wearing bright-yellow toenail polish, helping out an elderly neighbor by mowing her grass, or washing the clothes of street kids in India, you were made to walk like Jesus walked. And we don't have to be afraid. We can be brave."

Then she concludes today's reading with a question to ponder/journal and I want you to consider it, too. I sure spent time doing so...

What are some places where you are already leading? Thank God for them, and ask Him for even more opportunities.

I know that not every person is called to be a leader such as a teacher, a pastor, a missionary, a CEO but every child of God IS called to lead others to Jesus through their words, actions, generosity and hospitality.

"Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked." 1 John 2:6 ESV

So I encourage you today, before you lay your head down on your pillow to sleep tonight, ask yourself what Annie asked in the devotional. Pray about it. Journal about it. Do something about it.
