It's V-Day, Ya'll

All the hearts, pink, red and white, lovey-dovey, gushy and mushy things are happening. Dinners are being planned and dates are being made. How are you celebrating this holiday of love?

We don't always go all-out for this one. We tell each other that we love each other and usually make some small gesture but my birthday and our anniversary is right around the corner so we usually save the going out for those times. As far as the kids go we give them a card, maybe a small gift or a little cash and their favorite candy.

This year, our local meat market has a special for the month that includes New York Strip steaks so I am cooking our valentine meal at home. The four of us who like meat will have the steaks and the little one who doesn't like meat very much will probably eat a cheese sandwich or a hot dog (cause, he may not like much meat but as we all know, hot dogs in't real meat even you're buying the all-beef dogs). I think the kids will be surprised by the special things we'll have for them at dinner. I am really looking forward to it!

Many call this holiday a "Hallmark holiday." In many ways it is! But what's the harm in having a special day set aside where you are super intentional about loving your people? I say NOTHING! Maybe that's because I am a 2 on the enneagram and my top two love languages are words of affirmation and acts of service?

I hope you and yours have something that you enjoy planned. Something that just reminds each of you that you are loved and seen and known
And for my single friends out there, or maybe those whose loved ones are no longer with us, or maybe even are deployed in service to our country, just know that there is one who loves you greater than you can imagine and He sees you right where you are and His love for you is deep, wide, higher and longer than any sea, mountain, valley, or the sky.
