In The Thick Of It

I was talking to a friend a couple weeks ago and we were discussing how so many, including ourselves, just seem to be in the thick of battle right now. Not to over-spiritualize things but good golly it seems the Devil is on attack. I mean, I think some of the things being experienced are just growing pains, so to speak, but then there are other situations I have friends finding themselves in and you just know that the enemy of our souls is on the prowl trying to distract and take God's people out.

We ain't havin' none of that nonsense.

My friend shared that he had been listening to podcasts of different preachers from Christine Caine to TD Jakes and more, and listening to worship music from Elevation Church amongst others. We talked about the messages and the songs and then he told me how he began praying. What he said in his prayer floored me. I told him he needs to get-to-writing a sermon based on that prayer cause, ya'll. I asked him if I could put it on my letterboard in my office. He said yes so, I went on ahead and wrote this :) Here it is. Get ready.

On first looks, it may seem weird to say but, there is hardcore truth here! How many times do we read scripture that tells us to rebuke or resist the devil and we say it, but do we believe that we really do have the authority through Jesus Christ to mean it? Do we truly have the confidence to stand, shoulders squared and feet planted, to tell the devil where to go with his evil schemes and awful plans? Can we say, "Devil, you have no place and no hold here so GET OUT!"and really mean it with everything that is in us? That's the goal, the hope, isn't it?

You may be going through something really sucky today. Yep. I said it. But you know what?

God is bigger.

I pray that your confidence in Him is greater than your rebuke of the devil so that when you operate in the authority granted you by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who has defeated every foe, you rock hell to its core and every demonic spirit shudders at your words.

Don't give up or give in. God is fighting for you and, in case you wondered, the end is already written...do you have the confidence to believe it?

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
