Me and my Dad circa 1984

Growing up my dad always listened to talk radio. KMOX, Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon Days, even old-time radio shows on records.

DROVE. ME. NUTS. Especially when we were in the car on a Saturday driving somewhere and the only thing we could listen to was A Prairie Home Companion. I guess you could say I just didn't have an appreciation for that sort of thing.

Flash forward to today and ask me what I listen to most of the week.

Podcasts.

Pretty much the same thing as talk radio.

I listen to mostly faith-based podcasts that have a fun, entertaining twist to them. Podcasts like Ordinary People. Ordinary Things. with Melissa Radke, That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs, Zachary Thayer Storyteller, and Holy Post

Other faith-based selections are definitely more, well, churchy. First NLR and Elevation Church, or Influence, for example.

And then there are those that, to be honest, I feel I'll be judged for listening to. Podcasts like Up & Vanished, Serial, and Atlanta Monster. These are real, raw, unfiltered true crime podcasts that, in my humble opinion, reveal a deep, deep need for Jesus in our world. The stories of real people and their choices or tragedies are so well told and intriguing. While the faith-based shows feed my soul, there is something about these investigative shows that just speak to the humanity of us all and how we live a crazy world that needs a whole lot of Jesus.

I still have several others I would like to start but just haven't gotten to yet.

I would love to hear about your favorites!

Please leave a comment and share what you're listening to or what you have listened to that you really enjoyed. If you are like me and have been listening to Up & Vanished, feel free to say that too but let's not be spoilers for those who may join the club ;)
