How Could We Ever Forget?

Every year for the past 17 years I wake up and immediately do the same thing.

I remember.

I can vividly walk through the entire day, moment by moment.

The shock. The fear. The brokenness.

The unity. The patriotism. The love. The resilience.

That day, the days and weeks, even months, that followed...I can't even imagine being one who intimately suffered tremendous loss that day.

Heavenly Father I pray that you would be with those today who know what it means to have lost someone on this day 17 years ago. I pray for Your comfort to wrap around their hearts, for Your peace to saturate their lives and for Your presence to overwhelm them.
