Four Winds

Wind is a crazy thing. Too strong and it wreaks havoc, creating damage and destruction. Too weak and it doesn't serve much of a purpose. But when it's right, it can make the sun feel cooler, the air more tolerable, sweep rain out of the atmosphere and more.

The other day in my morning devotions I read Jeremiah 49. As I was reading, there was a verse that caught me and sent me on a little search.
I will bring enemies from all directions,
and I will scatter the people of Elam to the four winds.
They will be exiled to countries around the world. 49:6
Do you know what jumped out at me? If you are a part of the daily live chats I have been doing then you know. But in case you haven't, get ready! What stood out to me are the words, "four winds." I finished my reading but then quickly jumped to Ezekiel 37...do you know where I am going with this yet? Ezekiel 37 is the amazing account of the Valley of Dry Bones. I love this passage of scripture. The miraculous and powerful hand of God that moved through the obedience of a person who spoke things that were not as if they were. Every step of the way, God gave the prophet direction, words to say, what to do and he did it and God brought a valley of bones to life and made them into an army!
So what connected these two Old Testament prophets in my mind? Look at verse 9-10.
9 Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’”
10 So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army.
And all I could do was weep. It felt so perfectly important for the season our entire world is. I began praying that moment for the four winds to blow across our earth and to breath the breath of life into lungs of those who around the world are in dire need of it.
The next day, another devotion I am reading made me think of a song from Hillsong worship, Come Alive. Friends...my spirit began to soar! Look at the lyrics!
Are you waiting on Heaven Or is it waiting on you For the Holy Ghost is already in the room
So you better get ready 'Cause who knows what He'll do Where the four winds blow there's a Breakthrough breaking through I'm gonna prophesy again
Oh, friends! "Who knows what He'll do" when the "four winds blow there's a breakthrough breaking through." What if all of God's people began to prophesy, began to call on the four winds to blow across the earth and scatter every virus and fill lungs with the breath of life! Could we watch an army rise as though from the valley of dry bones? Could we see a revival catch fire and turn our world upside down?
The first verse of the song says,
I'm gonna sing to you dry bones
Until you're covered in life
And the valley blooms
Like a rosebud in the light

So, will you join me and sing over our entire world, all of humanity? Will you cry out in songs and praise to God what we desire to see - no more virus! No more ventilators! No more masks! No more gloves! No more social distancing! No more hoarding food and no more empty toilet paper shelves! HA! I mean, if we're gonna go, we ought to just go hard!
Let's lift our voices and cry out, "Come Alive! Come Alive! Let the four winds blow!"
