And so, with a grateful heart...

It feels a bit obligatory to write a Thanksgiving piece this week. I wonder how many other writers, bloggers and content providers feel that way?

I digress. . .

It is that time of year that has been set aside to remind ourselves of the many blessings that God has poured out on us. For years and years a thanksgiving celebration were held at different times by the colonies/states but in 1863, President Lincoln set aside November as the month that we as a nation would show our thankfulness.

I really am truly thankful for so many things. I am thankful for God who loves me, has loved me since before I ever was. I am thankful for a Savior who sets my soul on fire and has redeemed me from unimaginable hell. I am thankful for the Lord's very real presence in my life, leading me and guiding me along the journey. I am thankful for my family, especially my husband and kids. I am thankful for dear friends. I am thankful for a home, food, coffee, Netflix, Hulu...

I am simply thankful.

This week Colossians 2:6-7 have been my focus.

"And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness." -‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:6-7‬‬

Thankfulness is a heart condition. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, thankfulness becomes an overflow of our hearts and when something overflows it catches things up in its power. Picture that! Your attitude of gratitude can bring others long and create a wake of thankfulness!

So make your list of gratefulness and share it. Let your heart overflow with thankfulness. Grow your roots deeper and deeper in Jesus!
