When Broken is Beautiful

About 7 years ago I was sitting in my room watching the Assemblies of God General Council Session from Pheonix, AZ when the most audacious woman I had ever seen began to preach. Until that day I really hadn't heard of Christine Caine but in those moments I became enthralled by her passion to equip, empower, and rescue. She spoke so passionately about the local church, ministry and human trafficking.
I remember weeping as she shared about the plight of men, women and children all over the world and how they are being sold, used, and abused at the financial gain of someone else.
Her words burned in my heart. My world forever changed. I knew then that God had broken my heart in the most precious way and that I would one day be more than just a financial donor to the cause. I am still waiting for that day to come but until it does, I will raise my voice in advocacy as a humble and broken, unofficial, ambassador for victims of this horrific crime and injustice.
Since having my eyes opened I have learned about quite a few organizations who are fighting this plague all over the globe but some I personally support and have looked into are: A21-This is Christine Caine's amazing work that has offices in the US, Greece, Australia and more!
Project Rescue-If you do nothing else, read their books, Beyond the Soiled Curtain and Beyond the Shame. If you do it without weeping and falling to your knees then I question whether or not you even have a heart. F.R.E.E. International-This ministry is based in the US, Las Vegas, and has tremendous results in their rescue efforts!
Did you know:
Only 1% of victims are ever rescued Human trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world, generating more than
$150 billion USD every year.
Human Trafficking has different facets- Sex Trafficking, Forced Labor, Bonded Labor, Involuntary Domestic Servitude, and Child Soldiers...
An estimated 24.9 million people are enslaved by human trafficking today
You can find more staggering statistics by visiting The Polaris Project and educating yourself.
Here is a snapshot taken from their website. Let this sink in for a moment and look at the dark red spots...those are major areas and my neck of the woods is one of them. God help us advocate effectively.

In the words of my friend, Chris Stanley, "While there are Christians on the earth, human trafficking shouldn't exist."
Join the fight. Educate yourself. Pray. Donate.
