It's that time of year again!

Writer: Stacey WilsonStacey Wilson

I believe that part of having fun as a mom of all boys is being able to be gross at times. One of the ways I do this when I make meatloaf. Every year I try to do something

different and weird and creative.

I know...it's actually a little early for my annual tradition of creepy meatloaf...CREEPLOAF, if you will. You can read about previous shenanigans here.

Last year I attempted a mummy but it more looked...not like a mummy.

But it was hysterical and yummy!

I made a brain once, too. It didn't come out looking like a brain either but again, it was good!

It's so funny to me...growing up I hated meatloaf. I still don't especially care for it but my guys do so I figure, why not make it fun?

This year, on suggestion of a friend, I did a head. Ya'll. I legit couldn't stop giggling the entire time I was putting it together!

First I shaped it and pressed out eye cavities, nose cavity and a mouth cavity. (I wonder how many more times I can type the word cavity?) And I laughed and giggled way more than I should have. My oldest told me it looked like a head that used a long face filter. He's not wrong and I don't care.

Then I placed strips of bacon on it to look like a mummy wrap. I always use bacon on meatloaf so it just has to be what it is.

We use ground turkey so you really have to season it and flavor it up! I also mix in veggies to really boost the flavor. I shred carrots, celery and finely chop green pepper and I always use bread crumbs to bind it together. For the first time though, I used McCormick's Grill Mates hamburger seasoning instead of my usual and it really was the right decision. ANYWAY, we don't do ketchup. We use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce all over. Then I cook it.

And I laughed super hard again because...it's hilarious! Served it with mashed potatoes, of course!

It was also maybe the best one I have ever made. And the leftovers will be perfect.

Since I decided to go creepy early this year, there's time for maybe one more attempt before Halloween...wonder what I'll come up with next?
