I am a mom of three boys. What does that mean? It means we rarely have enough food in our house, there are always dirty clothes and dishes in need of washing, please don't get me started on Fortnite, and WHAT IS THAT SMELL?!?!

Alright, alright...so it's not exactly like this. But the smell...well it's real.

The other thing about being a boy mom is the never-ending need to anticipate what could possibly happen next. There is never a dull moment. Literally. And I mean "literally" in the true definition, not the way Urban Dictionary defines it. And we can't in any way let ourselves get our feelings hurt, or be offended, when they start telling the jokes...you know the ones!

In my house one of the most common things you're going to hear is, "Your mom's like a..." or, "Your mom's built like a...."

For instance. The 15 year old tells the 8 year old, "I picked your scooter up out of the yard." and the 8 year old responds, "Your mom's built like a scooter."

What?!? That doesn't even make...exactly.

Being a boy mom is not for the faint of heart. Tonight, the 8 year old brings my husband's phone down to him and tells him, "Goodnight Dad. I love you and I'll see you after school tomorrow." Dad leaves for work before he wakes up.

So my husband says, "I love you, too. Aren't you going to tell Mom?" 8 year old, while walking away and up the stairs, never looking back, "Nope." Hubs, "Why?" And you'll never guess what the twerp says..."Because you're better than her." and giggles all the way up the stairs until he hits the kitchen floor and yells at the 13 year old, "Know what I just said to Dad!?!? **giggle giggle**"

Oh sure, he's a punk. But you know what? I love that punk. I love that he knows how to have fun and that he can have fun. I love that my boys know I am not going to be mad at them for telling "Yo Momma" jokes and even know I'll help them look up more.

Oh, and for those who continuously tell the boy moms how fortunate they are because "boys are so much easier," GET A GRIP! Boys and girls are different. Period. They both have their hard and difficult days and seasons. I don't buy the whole easier thing. I just think they are different.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

First Day of Schoo
First Day of School and the 8 year old whispers the whole picture time, "I don't want to go. No. I don't want to go."
